Abstract

|
Cultivated site-cultivar identification of rice by image characteristics of starch was attempted, and its efficacy was compared to those of milled rice. Image of rice starch was captured by SEM (Scanning Electron Micrograph) and the area, aspect ratio, maximum diameter, minimum diameter, perimeter and roundness of starch or milled rice kernel were measured by the image analyzer. Discriminant analysis with image characteristics of starch and milled rice showed that the average percentage for correct identification were 38.09% and 51.42% respectively. The study showed that the image of milled rice kernel was more effective than that of starch for cultivated site-cultivar identification.
